The UpperCut Story - The rich, dark perfume of roasting coffee beans clung to the air, a familiar comfort that traced back through the years like a well-loved melody. For the man who would become the founder of UpperCut Coffee, this wasn't a story that began amidst the clatter of espresso machines. Instead, its first notes were struck in the fluorescent hum of a 1985 corporate office, surrounded by the iconic crimson of Folgers cans. Years unfolded in the world of coffee sales and marketing, a deep understanding of the bean and its power slowly steeping within him.
Then, the calendar flipped forward to 2019, and a different kind of fire ignited within. The disciplined world of boxing beckoned. At 65, he laced up gloves, stepped into the squared circle, embracing the demanding focus and raw energy of the sport. It was there, amidst the sweat-drenched canvas and the rhythmic thud of leather on pads, that a powerful idea began to crystallize.
